Conviva has been a comprehensive streaming intelligence and analytics platform serving top-tier streaming publishers globally. It is currently undergoing a transformation to become a horizontal Operational Data Platform (ODP). This demands a rethinking of the product architecture, user experiences, and overall design philosophy to support scalability and adaptability across diverse industry verticals.
Over the past 3 years, I have actively defined and designed the experience of the flagship product.
I started out with design audit and enhancing usability with quick wins. Then improved analytics and monitoring workflows with advanced capabilities.
The next part of my work involved a big challenge - making the product scale for any industry and use case. This meant redesigning it with modular and component-based layouts. Flexibility and reusability became very important.
Scaling a product to platform is an internal objective, but for it to make sense to customers, it has improve the time to value - provide faster actionability.
Improving time to value is about how to get user to move from learning how and what of the product to quickly achieving the objective of monitoring, troubleshooting, analysis, etc. As the amount of data is huge, it is a 'finding needle in a haystacks' problem for users. So, solutions on surfacing meaningful insights proactively were worked upon. More AI and automation was brought in. Also redesign of such existing capabilities for better user experience. All of this was possible through a very good cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering teams in a continuous discovery process.
Once this was done, I redefined the navigation to showcase new Conviva narrative.
My approach has always been working in these 3 tracks in parallel. It helps look at the product holistically.
